PXIe-4844 National Instruments PXI Universal Input Module Overview
The PXIe-4844 data acquisition module is a high-performance device from National Instruments (NI) specifically designed for fiber Bragg grating (FBG) optical sensors. Here are the details and features of the module:
Product Overview
The PXIe-4844 is a dual-slot 3U PXI Express data acquisition module for FBG optical sensors.
The module combines optical sensor demodulator functionality to provide a high-precision measurement solution for FBG strain and temperature sensors.
Technical Specifications
Number of channels: The PXIe-4844 has 4 optical channels that enable 10 Hz simultaneous sampling measurements of FBG strain and temperature sensors.
Wavelength range: Each optical channel has an 80 nm wavelength range, covering the 1510 to 1590 nm spectrum.
Number of sensors: The module is typically capable of scanning up to 20 FBG sensors per channel, and each module can support more than 80 FBG sensors (the specific number depends on the sensor range and sensitivity).
Core Technology
The PXIe-4844 DAQ module provides an optical core that combines a high-power, low-noise swept-wavelength laser with fiber-optic Fabry-Perot tunable filter technology from Micron Optics.
This technology ensures high-precision and reliable measurements for FBG sensors.
Scalability
You can further expand the maximum number of FBG sensors by connecting one or more optical channels to an external optical multiplexer or by adding more PXIe-4844 DAQ modules to the same PXI chassis.
The PXIe-4844 DAQ module can also be integrated into the same chassis as other PXI modules for electronic data acquisition and control.
Configuration and Software Support
Configuration of the PXIe-4844 DAQ module and FBG sensors is performed in NI-OSI Explorer.
The configuration manager scans the optical wavelength range to identify all connected FBG sensors.
After specifying the range and scaling for each detected FBG, all scans automatically parse the channel data into individual sensor measurement combinations and scale the data to the appropriate engineering units.
You can export this scaling configuration for use in the NI-OSI LabVIEW API.
