Functional Description
3500/92 is a Communication Gateway module developed by Bently Nevada. The communication Gateway module offers extensive serial (RS232/RS422/RS485) and Ethernet TCP/IP communication capabilities for integrating all rack monitoring values and statuses with process control and other automation systems. Additionally, it enables Ethernet communication with the data acquisition software and 3500 Rack Configuration Software. Protocols supported include:
- Modicon Modbus protocol (through serial communications)
- Modbus/TCP protocol (a serial Modbus variation used for TCP/IP Ethernet communications)
Proprietary Bently Nevada protocol(for communication with 3500 Rack Configuration and Data Acquisition Software packages)
Features
- For 10BASE-T star configuration Ethernet networks, it's Ethernet connection is an RJ45 connection. With the exception of the primary value Modbus registers, the component supports the communication interfaces, communication protocols, and additional functionality.
- The primary value Modbus registers were replaced by a Configurable Modbus Register Utility, which may now offer the same functionality.

Data Types
- Utilizes a high-speed internal network to gather information from other modules in the rack, including current measured values with a time stamp, module statuses, and current alarm statuses.
- The exact data types returned depend on the channel configuration and module type.
Update Time: The rate of data gathering for all modules in the 3500 rack will not be greater than 1 second, depending on the design of the rack.
